Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the National Secretary of the Labour Party loyal to Julius Abure, says the party\u2019s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is only enjoying his current media attention but would not contest in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is coming barely 24 hours after Obi insisted that he was a member of the Labour Party and that his name would be on the ballot in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibrahim made this known on Thursday while responding to questions in an interview on Trust TV, stressing that the opposition parties have become too demoralised to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can tell you, Obi is not going to contest presidential election. Obi is enjoying media publicity but 2027, he is not interested in it. We have offered him presidential ticket, he rejected it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The LP National Secretary further questioned Obi\u2019s current political alignment, alleging that his recent moves had created uncertainty about his party affiliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
