National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu has cautioned that any act of violence during the upcoming Anambra governorship election will be met with a decisive response from security agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ribadu, who was represented by Hassan Yahaya Abdullahi, Director of Internal Security at the Office of the NSA, issued the warning during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He assured that the federal government had made extensive security arrangements to guarantee a peaceful and credible election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs we prepare for the Anambra state governorship election on 8th November 2025, we have put in place robust security measures,\u201d Ribadu said. \u201cThese include enhanced surveillance, the deployment of sufficient security personnel, and improved intelligence gathering to prevent any attempt by disruptive elements or desperate politicians to undermine the electoral process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NSA emphasised that political leaders and candidates must act responsibly and avoid actions capable of inciting unrest. \u201cAny form of violence during the elections will be met with a strong, uncompromising response,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan, in his remarks, reaffirmed the commission\u2019s readiness for the poll, stating that both logistics and security arrangements had been finalised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith just 11 days to the Anambra governorship election, the commission is confident in affirming its full preparedness for the polls,\u201d Amupitan said. \u201cWe plan to deploy 24,000 personnel, with voting taking place in 5,718 of the state\u2019s 5,720 polling units.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also appealed to security agencies to sustain efforts in maintaining a safe environment for voters and electoral officials while cautioning against vote-buying and voter inducement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSecurity agents cannot afford to create an environment that allows vote buyers to operate,\u201d he added. \u201cTogether, let us combat vote-buying, uphold the values of democracy, and work relentlessly for the credibility of our elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
