Security agencies in Kaduna State have intercepted a major vote-buying attempt, seizing nearly \u20a626 million earmarked to compromise the electoral process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies, has arrested a suspected vote buyer with \u20a625,963,000 cash in Kaduna ahead of the state\u2019s bye-elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed in a statement on Saturday that operatives apprehended one Shehu Aliyu Patangi at a hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis around 3:30 a.m. The cash recovered from him was allegedly intended to bribe voters during the polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPreliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had planned to use the said amount to bribe eligible voters. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and pleaded for leniency,\u201d the statement noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the synergy between security agencies and vowed that anyone attempting to undermine the electoral process would face the full weight of the law.
